In September 2026, we published Part 1 of Issue 1, the first issue in the journal's history, with ten peer-reviewed articles by secondary and undergraduate students. They aren't built around a single theme, but several return to the same question: how do we notice what is easy to miss? One asks how astronomers might detect dark stars, which are still purely theoretical. Another looks at AI models that could help radiologists catch pancreatic cancer earlier. Others examine how cognitive biases contribute to misdiagnosis and how misinformation online affects the health habits of young people in Kazakhstan.

Below, you'll find Part 1 of Issue 1, which also includes work on econophysics, the economics of climate change mitigation, CRISPR gene editing for Wilson's disease, the Rohingya refugee crisis, Fernando Zóbel and abstract art in Francoist Spain, and the history of the ghost story Yotsuya Kaidan, from an 1825 kabuki play to postwar Japanese film.
